Vols in the NFL ??? Week 8 Highlights

The Week 8 highlights from former Tennessee players in the NFL include a record-breaking pass from Peyton Manning and an under-the-radar effort from Albert Haynesworth.?? Below are the best performances from former Vols during the weekend???s action.

?????Peyton Manning completed 14 of 30 passes for 255 yards and two touchdowns in the Colts??? 31-7 win over the Panthers on Sunday. Manning became the franchise leader in career touchdown passes with his second connection, a 59-yard strike to Reggie Wayne in the third quarter. In 10 seasons with the Colts, Manning has thrown 288 touchdown passes, one more than Johnny Unitas threw in 17 seasons with the franchise.

?????Though his stats are not outstanding, Albert Haynesworth is having a career year on the defensive line for the Tennessee Titans. Haynesworth boasts only 23 tackles and two sacks in seven games, but the Titans are first in the league in rush defense (64.3 yards per game) and fifth in total defense thanks in large part to Haynesworth???s disruptive play at the line of scrimmage.?? On Sunday, Tennessee allowed the Raiders only 92 rushing yards and 235 total yards in a 13-9 win.

?????Jabari Greer posted seven tackles in the Bills??? 13-3 win over the Jets. Greer has 22 tackles, six pass defenses and two interceptions through eight games. His seven stops on Sunday were a season-high.

?????On the losing end of the Bills 13-3 win was Jets defensive end Shaun Ellis, who also posted seven tackles. Ellis has 32 stops in eight starts this season, and his seven stops on Sunday were also a season-high.

?????Season Stats: Through the first eight weeks of the season, former Tennessee players have accounted for 103 receptions, 1,326 receiving yards and nine receiving touchdowns ??? Former Vols running backs have 215 carries for 1,209 yards and three touchdowns ... The only two teams with three former Vols on their active roster, New England and Green Bay, are a combined 14-1 through 15 games.
