PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. - The Tennessee men's golf team sits in 10th place after finishing second round of the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship Monday at Sawgrass Country Club. The Volunteers shot a 301 to finish with a scorecard of 313-301--614.
Sophomore Charlie Ford led the Vols, shooting a one-under par 71 in the second round. Ford recorded four birdies Monday. For the tournament, he has a scorecard of 78-71--147 to stand in a tie for 10th place.
Tino Weiss followed for Tennessee. The junior improved on his 16-over par in the first round by shooting a two-over 74. Weiss had one birdie and finished the day in a tie for 62nd place.
Jonathan Mount withdrew from the second round of the tournament, after recording a 6-over par 78 in the first round.
John Brannen, competing as an individual shot, an 82 to stand in a tie for 70th place.
UCLA's 10-stroke lead was cut to two, after shooting 16-over par in the second round. Texas Tech is now in second, with a seven-over par, with Georgia State and LSU two shots back.
Eric Flores of UCLA and Oscar Floren of Texas Tech are in a first-place tie after the second round. At even for the tournament, each has a two-stroke lead over Kevin Chappell of UCLA and Andrew Dresser of Texas Tech who are tied for third.
