STATESBORO, Ga.--The Tennessee men's golf team finished 13th at the Schenkel E-Z-GO Invitational. The Vols finished with a 290-296-297--883 for the tournament, which was played at Forest Heights Country Club.
Sophomore David Skinns led the way for UT. Skinns finished tied for 26th with scores of 71-71-75--217. Senior co-captains Andrew Pratt and Ian Parnaby finished tied for 41st and tied for 45th respectively. Pratt carded a 73-72-75--220, while Parnaby was one stroke back with a 72-76-73--221.
Sophomore Ross McGowan was next for the Vols with a 74-77-76--227 to finish tied for 62nd. Fellow sophomore Brandon Skeen finished tied for 71st with a 79-81-74--234 to round out the Tennessee scoring.
Sixth-ranked Wake Forest claimed the team championship. The Demon Deacons fired a 285-284-275--844 to edge top-ranked Clemson, who had a 281-286-280--847. Three Southeastern Conference schools rounded out the top five. At third was No.18 Georgia (854), with No. 9 Florida (858) and No. 14 Auburn (860) finishing fourth and fifth respectively.
Other Golfweek Top 25 team scores included No. 19 North Carolina State (6th) with an 861, No. 8 North Carolina (8th) with an 872, No. 4 Augusta State (10th) with an 877, No. 25 Tennessee (13th) with an 883 and No. 16 Duke (14th) with an 887.
Brent Wanner of Wake Forest made it a championship sweep by claiming top individual honors with a 75-67-65--207. Four other competitors finished tied for second.
The Vols will next be in action from April 12-13 at the North Carolina State Intercollegiate. The tournament will be held at the Raleigh Country Club in Raleigh, N.C.
