The Tennessee men's golf team fired a 5-under-par 283 to find itself third after one round at the Administaff ASU Invitational played Friday at Champions Retreat Golf Club in Augusta, Ga.
Junior Jonathan Mount is one stroke back of the lead in the individual standings after firing a 5-under-par 67, his best round of golf this year. Mount fired five birdies as he improved on his previous low round by three strokes.
Sophomore Chris Paisley fired a 3-under-par 69 and sits tied for sixth.
Philip Pettitt was next for Tennessee. Pettitt shot an even-par 72 and is tied for 27th.
North Carolina holds a three-stroke lead over the field after a 9-under-par 279 in the first round. Coastal Carolina is three strokes back in second with Tennessee four strokes behind in third. South Carolina and Georgia State round out the top five.
South Carolina's George Bryan IV fired a 6-under-par 66 to take the lead in the individual standings over UT's Mount. Three players are tied for third at 4 under with four tied for sixth at 3 under.
