The Tennessee men's golf team sits in 13th after two rounds at the Administaff Augusta State Invitational played at Champions Retreat Golf Club. The Volunteers shot a 293-300--593 to finish the day at 17-over-par.
Pacing the Big Orange was Kingston native Jonathan Mount and fellow Tennessean Phillip Pettitt. Mount follow up his first-round 73 with a second-round 75 to finish the day at 4-over-par. Pettitt had the best round on the day for the Vols, a 2-under 70 in the first round. He went 6-over-par in his second round. Both are in a tie for 43rd.
Next for Tennessee was sophomore Ben Spickard who fired a 75-74-149 to finish the day 5-over-par and in a tie for 49th.
Rounding out the lineup for the Vols were freshman Chris Paisley and senior Lloyd Campbell. Competing in his first tournament of the spring, Paisley had a scorecard of 76-75--151. Campbell fired a 3-over-par 75 in the first round and a 4-over-par 76 in the second. Paisley and Campbell are in 59th place.
Coastal Carolina has opened up a 6-stroke lead over the field, shooting an 11-under-par. Minnesota is in second, 5 strokes under par and Clemson is in third two shots back of Minnesota.
South Carolina-Aiken's Scott Brown and Coastal Carolina's Dustin Johnson both finished the day at 5-under-par to take the lead in the individual standings. Coastal Carolina's Joachim Forquet sits in third one stroke back.
