The Tennessee men's golf team sits in 11th after two rounds at the United States Collegiate Championships played Monday at The Golf Club of Georgia in Alpharetta, Ga. The Volunteers fired a team scorecard of 307-297--605.
Murfreesboro native Philip Pettitt paced the Vols. Pettitt posted the best round on the day for the Big Orange, a 1-under-par 71, in the second round. He went 6-over-par 78 in his first round and is tied for 26th.
Georgia native Ben Spickard fired a 74-76--150 to finish the day 6-over-par and tied for 31st.
Sophomore Charlie Ford finished 8-over-par and in a tie for 43rd. Ford followed his first-round 6-over-par 78 with a second-round 2-over-par 74.
Freshman Chris Paisley rounded out the lineup for the Volunteers. Paisley fired a scorecard of 77-76--153 to stand 9-over-par and tied for 47th.
Tennessee sophomore Jonathan Mount withdrew from competition.
Clemson fired a team score of 291-283--574 and has a one-stroke lead after two rounds. Florida and Wake Forest are tied for second, one stroke back of Clemson.
Wake Forest's Webb Simpson fired a 68-67--135 and finished the day 9-under-par, to take the lead in the individual standings. Florida's Matt Every and Clemson's Stephen Poole are tied for second five strokes back.
The third and final round begins Tuesday morning at 8 a.m. Eastern time.
