The Tennessee men's golf team finished 12th after the third and final round at the U.S. Collegiate Championships played Tuesday at The Golf Club of Georgia in Alpharetta, Ga. The Vols finished the tournament with a scorecard of 307-297-309--913.
Philip Pettitt set the pace for the Volunteers by shooting a 4-over-par final round to finish in a tie for 38th. He finished the tournament at 10-over-par and with a final scorecard of 78-71-77-226.
Ben Spickard was next for the Big Orange. The sophomore fired a final round 5-over-par 77 and finished tied for 40th.
Charlie Ford and Chris Paisley rounded out the lineup for Tennessee. Ford had an eagle on 18 before finishing the round 6-over-par. Paisley repeated his first-round score, a 5-over-par 77. Both finished with three round scores of 230 and in 48th place.
Clemson retained its second-round lead and finished as tournament champions with a final scorecard of 291-283-290--864. Florida followed in second, three strokes back, with Wake Forest, Georgia Tech and Georgia rounding out the top five.
Clemson's Stephen Poole took the individual title by one stroke over Wake Forest's Webb Simpson and Georgia's Brendon Todd. Georgia Tech's Michael Barbosa and Florida's Matt Every tied for fourth.
Next up for the Volunteers is the SEC Championships, April 21-23 at the Seaside Course in Sea Island, Ga.
