SEA ISLAND, Ga. - Tennessee fired a second-round 296 at the 2004 SEC Golf Championships to end the Day 2 in fifth place. The Vols second-round score goes with a 283 from the first round for a total of 579. The tournament is being played at the Seaside Course (par 70, 6,898 yards).
John Scott Rattan continues to lead the Vol contingent in a tie for 12th. The second round saw Rattan fire a 74 to go with his first-round score of 68 for a two-day total of 142.
Top-ranked and defending SEC champion Florida moved into a tie for first place with first-round leader Georgia. The Gators have a scorecard of 283-277--560, while fourth-ranked Georgia has a 269-291--560. Auburn continues to stand third with a 565, with 12th-ranked South Carolina (575) in fourth and Tennessee in fifth to round out the top five.
Matt Every and Brett Stegmaier of Florida are tied for the individual lead. Both players enter the final round with scorecards of 72-65--137. Clint Provost of Alabama and Brendon Todd of Georgia are tied for third with scores of 138, while Alex Hamilton of South Carolina stands fifth with a 139.
