The Tennessee men's golf team jumped two spots into first place after the second day of the 2007 SEC Championships held at Sea Island Golf Club in St. Simons Island, Ga. The Volunteers finished the day 3-over-par and with a team score of 283. After two rounds UT has a scorecard of 301-283--584.
Senior Tino Weiss continues to pace the Vols as he fired an even-par 70 and jumped five spots into a tie for second place. This is the third time this season he has repeated his low round of 70.
Junior Charlie Ford and sophomore Chris Paisley find themselves tied for ninth after the second round. Both improved dramatically on their first round scores, Ford improving four strokes with a 1-over-par 71 while Paisley improved six strokes with an even-par 70 in the second round. The pair combined for eight birdies on the day.
Philip Pettitt carded a 2-over-par 72 and finds himself tied for 15th place with a scorecard 76-72--148.
Freshman David Holmes rounded out the Tennessee lineup. Holmes fired a 9-over-par 79 and is tied for 55th place.
Auburn's Patton Kizzire fired a second round 1-under-par 69 to overtake the lead in the individual standings. Following three strokes behind are four players tied for second, including Tennessee's Weiss.
Tennessee fired the best round of the day to open a two-stroke lead over second-place Alabama. Florida, Mississippi and Auburn round out the top five.
