ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. -- The Tennessee men's golf team capped off its weekend at the 2014 SEC Championship with a final round 280 (E). The Vols finished tied for 12th place with a 54-hole total of 859 (+19).

On the final day of competition, head coach Jim Kelson saw his two seniors Danny Keddie and Brandon Rodgers deliver under-par rounds of 69 (-1).

Keddie finished atop the Tennessee leaderboard with a three day total of 214 (+4). The Englishman finished in 35th place and recorded eight total birdies over the weekend.

"I hit the ball great. I hit 17 of 18 greens today," Keddie said. "I had the chance to shoot even lower because I gave myself so many birdie chances."

Rodgers' final round 69 (-1) marked his second consecutive tournament with a round in the 60s, and third of the season.

"It was a solid round today," Rodgers said. "I don't think I necessarily played great but I hung in there and made two birdies to end the tournament which was nice."

The Farragut, Tenn., native carded a 54-hole total of 217 (+7) including five birdies and an eagle. Rodgers finished his last SEC Championship tied for 43rd place.

Sophomore Oliver Goss finished his second SEC Championship tied for 36th place. The Australian carded a tournament total of 215 (+5) highlighted by a second round 69 (-1).

Freshman Jack Smith and sophomore Chad Merzbacher rounded out the Tennessee lineup. Smith finished tied for 51st after carding a three day total of 218 (+8) highlighted by a 69 (-1) on Friday. Merzbacher finished in 63rd place but ended his weekend strong with a final round of 70 (E).

The 2014 SEC Championship marked the first time all season that four different Vols carded rounds in the 60s in the same tournament. However, the poor team finish left much to be desired by the Tennessee seniors.

"In terms of my last conference tournament, I love playing at Sea Island," Keddie said. "It's a great course and it fits my eye really well. It's just a shame we couldn't have made a better go of it this weekend."

The Volunteers will now turn their attention toward the upcoming 2014 NCAA Regionals, which will be announced next week.

"Overall, I'd say the week was a disappointment considering how we've been playing," Rodgers said. "But I think it has made us a little hungrier for regionals in a few weeks."
