The No. 2 Tennessee men's golf team is tied for the lead and senior Chris Paisley is in third place after the first day of the Wolf Pack Classic held at Wolf Run Golf Club, a par-72, 7,100-yard course, in Reno, Nev.

In the first round, the Volunteers shot a 1-over-par 289 and then followed that up with a 9-under-par 279 in the second round to finish the day 8 under par and tied with New Mexico State for first place.

Arizona is third in the team standings at 7 under par. Fresno State and Kansas State round out the top five in fourth and fifth place, respectively.

Paisley paced the Vols in third place. Heading into the final round of the tournament, Paisley is at 5 under par after a 3-under-par 69 in the first round and a 2-under-par 70 in the second.

Sophomore Robin Wingardh was next for UT tied for 18th place. Wingardh improved his 5-over-par 77 in the first round with a 6-under-par 66 in the second.

Sophomore Cameron Lawrence and junior David Holmes finished the day at even par and tie for 22nd place. Lawrence fired scorecard of 72-72--144. Holmes improved two strokes from the first round to the second round, shooting a 73 then a 71.

Darren Renwick rounded out the lineup for Tennessee. The freshman carded a 3-over-par 75 in the first round and finished tied for 48th after a 75 in the second round.

Competing as an individual, Garrick Porteous turned in a spectacular first two rounds as a Volunteer. The freshman fired a 1-over-par 73 in both rounds and is tied for 35th.

The third and final round begins with a shotgun start Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. Eastern time.
