The No. 2 Tennessee men's golf team finished third and two Vols place in top 10 as the Wolf Pack Classic concluded Tuesday at Wolf Run Golf Club, a par-72, 7,100-yard course, in Reno, Nev.
As a team, the Vols shot a 1-over-par 289 in the final round and finished with a team score of 7-under-par 857. New Mexico State held onto its day-one lead to take home the team championship, 10 strokes ahead of Tennessee. The Aggies shot 9 under par on the final day and finished the tournament 17 under. Arizona finished second with host Nevada and No. 31 Kansas State tied for fourth.
Senior Chris Paisley followed up his 2-under-par 70 in the second round with another 70 on Tuesday. He finished the tournament at 7 under par, four strokes back of individual winner Wichita State's Dustin Garza. This marks Paisley's second top-10 finish of the fall season and the ninth of his career.
Junior David Holmes also placed in the top 10 for the Volunteers. The Knoxville native fired a 4-under-par 68 to finish the tournament at 4 under par and tied for seventh place.
Sophomore Robin Wingardh was next for UT tied for 21st place. Wingardh fired a 2-over-par 74 in the final round and ended his 54-holes at 1 over par.
Competing as an individual, freshman Garrick Porteous finished tied for 26th after shooting even-par in the final round. In his first collegiate tournament, Porteous finished with a scorecard of 73-73-72--218, 2 over par.
Cameron Lawrence struggled in the final round, carding a 6-over-par 78 to finish tied for 42nd with a 54-hole total of 222.
Freshman Darren Renwick rounded out the Tennessee lineup. Renwick finished tied for 53rd after shooting a 5-over-par 77.
The Volunteers travel next to The Ridges Intercollegiate, Oct. 24-26 at The Ridges Golf and Country Club in Jonesborough, Tenn.
