Rocky Face, Ga. - The Tennessee men's golf team finished Saturday's second round tied for 11th at the Carpet Capital Collegiate played at The Farm.
Senior Lloyd Campbell led the Volunteers shooting a three-under par 69 in the second round. Campbell started his second round by birding holes 14, 15 and 16 consecutively. Campbell for the tournament has a scorecard of 78-69--147 to stand in a tie for 26th place.
Jonathan Mount and Philip Pettitt are next for the Vols with both five-over par through two rounds. Mount shot an opening round 74 and fired a 75 in the second round. Pettitt shot a 75 in the first round and improved one stroke Saturday in the second round. Both players are in a tie for 36th place.
Ben Spickard is in a tie for 50th place after firing a 75 in both the first and second round. Spickard birdied the 12th hole but two bogeys and a double bogey cost him.
Tino Weiss rounds out the Tennessee lineup with a score of 76-80--156.
Georgia and Georgia State are tied for the overall lead with a score of three-under par. Florida, the leader after the first round, is three shots back in third. Duke is also within striking distance only five shots behind the leaders.
Georgia's Chris Kirk retains the overall lead shooting a 70 in the second round to stand seven-under par overall. Georgia State teammates Mark Haastrup and Joel Sjoholm are one stroke behind Kirk. Texas Tech's Andrew Dresser and Georgia Tech's Kevin Larsen are two strokes back.
The third and final round is scheduled to begin Sunday morning.
