Europeans surge to take 3-1 lead

Heading into the second day of the 2008 Kelson Cup intrasquad event, the American and European teams were all square and looking for the opportunity to get an edge on their opponents.

The European team took that opportunity.

Thanks to strong play from all four of its members, the European team won both best-ball matches Friday at Egwani Farms Golf Course and now holds a 3-1 lead over the American team heading into Monday's final round.

"It was a solid performance by the European team all around," Charlie Ford, a senior and captain of the European team said. "The guys just played their game and got the job done."

In the first match of the day, the European duo of Ford and Daniel Casey defeated the American pair of Cameron Lawrence and James Brannen, 3 and 2.

In the day's final matchup, the European tandem of Chris Paisley and Robin Wingardh defeated Ben Spickard and Justin Walker, 4 and 2.

The final round of The Cup has been reschedule for Monday and will be played at Holston Hills Country Club. Pairings for the final round will be announced tomorrow.
