EUGENE, Ore. - The Tennessee men's golf team will make its 15th consecutive NCAA Regional appearance on Thursday at the Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Ore. The Vols are the No. 8 seed in the West Region.
Shooting for his eighth trip to the NCAA Championship, head coach Jim Kelson will use the starting lineup of sophomore Oliver Goss, senior Danny Keddie, senior Brandon Rodgers, freshman Jack Smith, and sophomore Michael Nagy. The lineup has only been used once this season when the Volunteers played the Floridian Invitational.
The 2014 NCAA Eugene Regional lineup has a combined five regional appearances (Keddie - 2 and Goss, Nagy, Rodgers - 1 each).
"We are excited to be here," Kelson said. "This course is one of the nicest I've seen. The folks here are doing an outstanding job. Everything is beautiful. We are going to be ready to go out there and compete."
The Volunteers were led to the Pacific Northwest by Goss, the No. 10 ranked amateur in the world. The field at the NCAA Eugene Regional is well aware of Goss' accomplishments.
"Oliver is a pretty special player," Oregon head coach Casey Martin said. "He's one of the top-ranked amateurs in the world and finished in 49th-place at The Masters."
Action on the par-70, 6,990 yards course is slated to begin on Thursday, May 15, and end on Saturday, May 17. Tennessee is scheduled to tee off Thursday morning at 8:55 a.m. local time (11:55 a.m. ET). The Vols will be paired with Oregon and North Florida.
The state of Tennessee will be well represented at the Eugene Country Club this weekend. In addition to the Vols, ETSU (No. 10 seed) and Chattanooga (No. 11) made the trip out west for the NCAA Regional.
