NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Past, current and incoming Vols shined in Wednesday's second round and will advance to match play in the 17th Annual Tennessee Match Play Championship at Hillwood Country Club.
Rising redshirt sophomore Nolan Ray is tied for fourth at 4-under. Ray moved up six spots after carding a 3-under 69 in the second round with four birdies.
VFL Jack Smith is tied for sixth place after a first-round 71 and a second-round 70 put hit at 3-under. Smith enjoyed five birdies in the second round.
Incoming Tennessee freshman Chase Roswall, who is tied for eighth at 2-under, tied for the lowest round of the first 36 holes with 6-under 66 in the second round.
VFL Stuart Smith, who helped UT win the 1980 SEC Championship and competed in the NCAA Championship in four-straight years (1980-83), is tied for eighth at 2-under. He was tied for sixth entering play on Wednesday after shooting 2-under 70 in Tuesday's first round.
UT rising sophomore Brayden Garrison tied for 28th at 3-over.
The top 16 players move on to match play.
