Rising Tennessee senior Chris Paisley advanced to the second round of match play Wednesday at the 2008 British Amateur Championships, defeating Farren Kennan of Sunningdale 1 up. Paisley will tee off against Chris Wood of Long Ashton when the second round begins Thursday morning.
The Championships is being played on the Turnberry, Ailsa and Kintyre courses in Turnberry, Scotland.
The event began Monday with 288 players, each of whom played two rounds of 18 holes. The 64 lowest scores over the 36 holes and ties for 64th place qualified to compete in the match play stage of the Championship, which began on Wednesday over the Ailsa course.
During the two rounds of stroke play, Paisley posted scores of 71 and 78 for a two-round total of 150.
Each match consists of one round of 18 holes except the final which will be over 36 holes. The second and third rounds will be played on Thursday, followed by the quarterfinal round on Friday and the championship rounds on Saturday.
