Vols Welcome Transfer from Santa Clara
Rick Lamb

June 21, 2011

Tennessee head coach Jim Kelson announced Tuesday that Santa Clara's Rick Lamb is transferring and joining the Vols squad this fall.

Lamb will be a junior at UT and have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

"We are very excited Rick has decided to join our program," Kelson said. "He's an extremely hard-working young man and a consistent and experienced player. We look forward to him really helping our program beginning this season."

Lamb is coming off two terrific seasons for Santa Clara. The left-hander was West Coast Conference Freshman of the Year in 2010, and then emerged as the Broncos' scoring leader this past season at 73.07 en route to All-WCC first team honors. Lamb finished his sophomore campaign in the top 10 at four of the 11 events he entered, including a second-place showing at the Del Walker Intercollegiate in Long Beach, Calif., that helped Santa Clara to a team victory.

Lamb also qualified as an at-large individual to compete in the 2011 NCAA San Diego Regional, where he placed 13th in the 75-player field after firing rounds of 75, 71 and 71. Lamb tied for 17th earlier this month at the Southeastern Amateur in Columbus, Ga.

Originally from South Bend, Ind., Lamb was a 2009 graduate of Saint Stephens Episcopal School in Sarasota, Fla., where he was coached by Jay Denton. He is the son of Dr. Charles and Candes Lamb.
