KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Jack Smith, a 2013 Tennessee men's golf signee, will compete in this week's 50th Annual Tennessee Junior Amateur.
"I definitely look forward to it, as it is one of our state championships," Smith said. "I think a win at a TGA state championship is a pretty big deal".
The Knoxville native is attempting to go out on top in his last summer as a junior golfer. In addition to competing in the Tennessee Junior Am, Smith plans to take part in the Greater Knoxville Amateur, the Chattanooga Choo-Choo Invitational, and the Tennessee State Amateur. The Tennessee Junior Am tournament begins Tuesday and concludes Thursday, July 11.
"(The Junior Am) is a strong field, as it has been every year I've played," Smith said. "I guess it will be more of the same, whoever wins will have posted low scores".
Through the first round at the Cleveland Country Club, Smith sits in a tie for third place after shooting a one-under par 69.
