Dahlonega, Ga. - Former Tennessee Volunteer golfer David Skinns captured the NGA Tour Classic Sunday afternoon in Dahlonega, Ga.
Skinns, who shot 8-under-par on Sunday with a score of 63, would go on to win the event at 22-under for the weekend.
In an interview with the Knoxville News Sentinel, Skinns noted the experience the NGA provided its players. "Everyone out here is trying to jump to the next level," said Skinns, "and I'm excited about the exemption. I've been playing well on the NGA Tour and I think that will carry over into the Knoxville Open."
With his win at the Achasta Golf Club this past weekend, Skinns is now eligiable for the Web.com Tour's Knoxville News Sentinel Open, which will be played from Aug. 23 through the 26th.
While at Tennessee, the Lincoln, England native was a crucial part of Tennessee's success. As a senior in '04-'05, Skinns finished his fall campaign with a stroke average of 72.75 and recorded top-10 finishes in three of the four events.
