Over the weekend, sophomore Grant Daugherty went looking for a thrill ride. He found it in the form of skydiving in Chattanooga, Tenn.
"I thought it was the thrill of a lifetime," Daugherty said. "I have always wanted to try and my fiancé got it for me for my birthday."
The native of Alcoa, Tenn., competed in one tournament for the Vols last season, placing 42nd. He hopes this quick, free falling adventure was the refreshing break he needed before heading back to the golf course and classroom.
"It was the coolest thing I've ever done. It was good for me to take a step back from golf and try something I've always wanted to try," Daugherty said. "It really helped clear my head."
Terminal velocity is often reported to be approximately 120 mph for a typical skydiver in free fall... also known as "very fast"!
