Keddie looks to take his first swings in over a year
Sept. 19, 2013
The Tennessee men's golf team will look for a little home cooking this weekend as they travel to Nashville for the inaugural Dick's Sporting Goods Collegiate Challenge Cup.
The event will take place at The Golf Club of Tennessee and feature a showdown between powerhouse conferences, ACC vs. SEC.
The tournament will be a 54-hole stroke-play event on Friday and Saturday, followed by an 18-hole match-play finale on Sunday. In the finale, each school will be ranked by their finish over the 54-hole stroke play and compete for the SEC/ACC Challenge as well as bragging rights for the "Top Conference". At the conclusion of play on Saturday, an individual and team champion will be crowned before the conference challenge.
For Keddie and Rodgers, the Challenge will mark their first golf tournament of the season. Keddie, a native of England, will suit up in the Big Orange for the first time in over a year. The former All-SEC freshman redshirted last season.
Rodgers will look to kick off his senior year with a positive debut. The Knoxville native won the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate last season.
The combination of Smith and Serrano will look to make their second career collegiate starts after debuting for Tennessee earlier this month in the Carpet Capital Collegiate.
The Volunteers will look to bounce back from their first tournament which saw the boys in orange finish tied for 11th at the Carpet Capital. Goss will also look to improve upon his Carpet Capital performance in which he placed 33rd. According to Golfweek, Goss is the No. 6 ranked golfer in the nation.
