Over the weekend, former Tennessee Vol made some noise in the world of golf.
Philip Pettitt, Jr., a 2008 graduate, played a marvelous weekend of golf. He finished tied for 3rd in the Neediest Kids Championship at TPC Potomoc in Potomac, Maryland. The Web.com Tour event was held Thursday, Oct. 4th - Sunday, Oct. 7th.
The tournament sponsor, Neediest Kids, is a non-profit organization that helps low-income students in Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia obtain the basic essentials they need so they can get the education they deserve. All net proceeds from the weekend event will enable Neediest Kids to help more children in their communities succeed in school. More information: click here.
Pettitt navigated the course at Avenel Farm spectacularly, shoot a four round total of 274 (-6). His 6-under par performance netted the former Vol a nice payday of $34,800.
Pettitt, the Murfreesboro native, came out of the gate blazing with a first round of 66 (-4), but then cooled down in the second round with a 71 (+1). He finished out the tournament with a 68 (-2) and 69 (-1) respectively. To view the results: click here.
