Goss to Play in Perth International

On Thursday, Tennessee Vol signee Oliver Goss will tee off in the 2012 ISPS HANDA Perth International golf tournament at Lake Karrinyup Country Club in Perth, Australia.

The tournament will take place from Thursday, Oct. 18 to Sunday, Oct. 21 and Goss will be the only amateur playing in the professional event.

The future Vol will start his first round on Thursday at noon Western Australia Time. He will play alongside fellow Australian golfers Josh Younger and Peter Cooke.

The 18-year-old Perth native, recently a quarter finalists in the US Amateur Championship, will be enrolling at the University of Tennessee in January and playing for Jim Kelson and the men's golf team in the spring.

The men's golf team is looking forward to the arrival of Goss on Rocky Top. "Oliver is the highest ranked player we have recruited to the University of Tennessee," head coach Kelson said. "He certainly possesses all of the tools to excel in intercollegiate golf. We look forward to helping Oliver reach all of his goals and aspirations".

Prior to Goss' success at the US Amateur in August, he racked up numerous accomplishments. He is a member of the Perth National Squad, who is a top 50 points leader in the World Amateur Golf Rankings, and won the prestigious 2012 Western Australian Amateur. In addition, he finished tied for second in stroke play portion at the 2012 Australian Amateur and tied for fifth in 2012 Malaysian Amateur Open.
