On Saturday, former Tennessee men's golfer Chris Paisley hit a major career milestone. Paisley won his full European tour card for the upcoming year.
The past year has been very kind to the former Vol. Paisley won his first event as a professional in Spain on the Peugoet Tour de Valencia and won this year's English Challenge at Stoke by Nayland.
On Saturday, Oct. 27, Paisley tweeted from his Twitter account: "Finished 12th on the money list! Dream come true. Congrats to everyone who made it. Officially a European tour player!".
"Chris has worked very hard to win his card," Close House director of golf Russell Smith said. "Chris is a great example and role model for the golfers around the region".
Paisley secured his card by posting solid rounds at the Oct. 24-27 Apulia San Domenico Grand Final in Savelletri, Italy. Paisley's weekend play was highlighted by a 5-under par 66 second round.
Many current golfing stars, like Ian Poulter, have gotten their start just as Paisley has done. Paisley is among 21 men to receive the good news over the weekend. These men played their way to a tour card by achieving success on the Challenge Tour tier of the European Tour.
Paisley was a standout for the University of Tennessee men's golf program from 2005-2009. While on Rocky Top, Paisley earned such honors as Tennessee Vols team captain, 2009 Ping All-American, and 2007 & 2009 ALL-SEC team selection.
