2001-02 -- Swam personal best times of 49.41 in the 100 back and 1:47.66 in the 200 back at the SEC Championships...Finished fourth in the 200 backstroke at the SEC Invitational with a time of 1:53.52...Competed at US Nationals and earned fourth place team honors in the men's competition.
2000-01 -- This year
was rebuilding year for Michael. He was coming off surgery on both shoulders.
He did not compete in the SEC’s or NCAA Championships... 1999-2000 -- Did
not compete due to injury... 1998-99 -- Debuted
in a win over Kentucky, finishing second in the 200 free relay with a time of
1:44.00...Competed in three events versus Virginia with a fourth-place time
of 1:53.39 in the 200 back, a second-place time of 3:07.08 in the 400 free relay,
and a third-place time of 3:24.53 in the 400 medley relay...At the Pilot Invitational
finished first in the 400 medley relay (3:27.94), fourth in the 200 I.M. (1:57.32),
fourth in the 200 back (1:55.10), and fifth in the 200 free (1:44.97)...At the
UNLV Invitational, finished fourth in the 200 medley relay (1:34.02), eighth
in the 100 back (52.97), and 12th in the 200 free (1:44.84)...Enjoyed two victories
in dual-meet win over TCU with a win in the 200 back (1:54.19) and a win in
the 400 medley relay (3:23.70)...Also contributed to a second-place time of
3:10.71 in the 400 free relay against the TCU...In dual-meet with Georgia, finished
fourth in the 200 I.M. while serving on the second-place 400 medley relay (3:18.73)...Finished
third in the 200 free against Florida with a time of 1:39.89...Aided the Vol
effort versus the Gators with a fourth-place finish in the 200 back with a time
of 1:48.89 and second-place finish in the 400 free relay...Scored in three individual
events and one relay at the SECs...Finished ninth in the 200 I.M. (1:49.83)
and the 200 free (1:38.84) and 10th in the 200 back (1:48.07) and helped the
Vols’ 800 free relay squad to sixth-place time of 6:36.48...At the Bulldog
Invitational, claimed second-place finishes in both the 100 back (50.12) and
the 200 I.M. (1:52.21)... Prior to UT -- Backstroke
specialist who boasts times of 50.40 in the 100 yard event and 1:51.66 in the
200 yard event...Three time high school All-America...Two time New Jersey state
champion and record holder in the 100 backstroke...Coached at Sparta High School
