At the 29th LEN European Championships, Persson and the rest of the Sweden relay team won gold in the 4 x 100 meter relay ... The victory sends Persson to the 2008 Beijing Olympics where he will represent Sweden in that event and possibly the open 100 meter freestyle ... At the NCAA Championships, broke the UT 100 freestyle record three consecutive times ... Topped the team with most All-America awards for his efforts on the third-place 800 freestyle relay, the fifth-place 200 freestyle relay, the sixth-place 400 medley relay and the sixth-place 400 freestyle relay and placing fifth in the 100 freestyle ... Also won Honorable Mention All-America when finishing 10th in the 200 freestyle ... Became an SEC Champion for the first time when the 800 freestyle relay triumphed at the conference championships ... Also at SECs, placed 11th in the 50 freestyle (20.07), fourth in the 200 freestyle (1:34.50) and third in the 100 freestyle (43.48) ... Won his first SEC Swimmer of the Week Award on Nov. 8, 2007, for his performance in the victory against Auburn, when he won both the 100 and 200 freestyles ... Won a second SEC Swimmer of the Week Award on Feb. 6, 2008, for his performance in the victory over Florida, when he won again both the 100 and 200 freestyles.

At the Sweden National Championships, placed second in the 100 (50.6) and 200 (1:51.80) meter freestyles while helping his teammates to victory on the 800 meter freestyle relay ... is an overall seven-time Swedish national champion ... qualified for European Championships in March 2008 as well as the Olympics where he will represent Sweden.

Earned first team All-American honors in anchoring the third place 200 free relay and participating in the third-place 800 free relay at the 2005 NCAA championships ...
