Tennessee sophomore Phillip Jones took second-place on the one-meter springboard at the Georgia Diving Invitational in Athens, Ga.
"I am very pleased with the way our team is competing," head diving coach Dave Parrington said. "We have been training really hard and our divers are diving very consistently."
Jones scored 654.35 points to secure second place behind Clayton Moss of Kentucky (666.25). Jake Dorsey dove to a eighth-place finish with 612.40 points while freshman John Venditti tallied up 248.10 points in preliminaries, placing 16th.
"Tomorrow there will be some excellent competition," coach Parrington said. "I am looking for us to compete hard and to dive consistently."
The Georgia Diving Invitational continues Saturday with the three-meter competition.
