ATHENS, Ga. -- Sophomore Phillip Jones took second-place on the three-meter springboard at the Georgia Diving Invitational in Athens, Ga. for the second straight night.

"We had a fantastic battle tonight with some of the premiere divers in the country," head diving coach Dave Parrington said. "I am very pleased with our overall performance."

Jones scored 594.75 points to secure second place behind Matt Bricker of Auburn (597.35).

Jake Dorsey dove to a 12th-place finish with 475.45 points while freshman John Venditti tallied up 408.90 points in preliminaries, placing 18th.

In what could be considered a preview to the Southeastern Conference championship, 10 of the top 12 divers on the men's 3-meter were SEC divers.

"This was a real good tune up for the America's Cup next week," coach Parrington said. "I am looking forward to us competing hard and consistently."

The Georgia Diving Invitational continues Sunday with the platform competition.
