ATHENS, Ga. -- On the last day of competition, Jake Dorsey dove to an eighth-place finish on the platform event at the Georgia Diving Invitational in Athens, Ga.
"Jake Dorsey was the only Vol competing today and he was a little rusty," head diving coach Dave Parrington said. "It was our first performance on platform after the break and it showed."
Dorsey, a senior captain from Champaign, Ill, tallied 393.90 points earning him eighth-place. Dorsey was in contention and then on his fifth dive, he hit his heel on the platform, causing him to slip behind the field.
For the weekend, Phillip Jones took second-place honors on both the one-meter and three-meter springboards. Dorsey finished with a 12th-place finish on the three-meter, seventh-place on the one-meter and eighth-place on the 10-meter platform. Freshman John Venditti placed 18th on the three-meter and 16th on the one-meter.
Tennessee divers hit the springboards next Jan. 7-12, at the US Open Diving Championships in Bloomington, Ind.
