The Tennessee Swim team concluded the second day of the SEC Championships Thursday at the Lancaster Aquatic Center in Lexington, Ky. The Vols fall to 6th-place in the team standings with 133 points as the Auburn Tigers still substantially lead the field with 450.5.
"We had a mediocre day," UT head coach John Trembley said. "We were not pleased with how some of our swimmers reacted. Our 50 freestylers, with exception of Jim D. who posted a great time, were pedestrian. Morrell's 500 freestyle was good. We've challenged the guys to come to the pool [Friday] with more fight."
The 200 freestyle relay captured 5th-place in 1:20.10.
Octavio Alesi also highlighted the evening with a 12th-place finish in the 50 freestyle. Alesi came into the race with a 19.80 seed but only swam the race in 20.23. Barry Murphy followed in 15th-place, Jim Dabney 16th, Andrew Engle 22nd, Jeff Sudbury 28th, Scott Wherry 34th and Chris Wary 38th.
Tomorrow's agenda has slated the 400 individual medley, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 back stroke and a 400 medley relay time trial.
