The Tennessee men's swimming and diving team opened its SEC schedule Saturday with at 134-107 win over rival Kentucky at the Lancaster Aquatic Center in Lexington, Ky.
"This was a typical Tennessee-Kentucky dual meet," UT head coach John Trembley said. "While it was a decisive win over a traditional opponent, with few exceptions, the coaches are not pleased with Tennessee's team performance.
"Some nice races from Michael Wolfe (200 I.M.), Octavio Alesi (50 free), Brad Boswell (200 back) and dominating diving performance from Burkley Showe highlighted the day," Trembley added. "Otherwise we were mediocre."
Alesi, a sophomore All-America, won the 50 free in 20.41 over senior sprint-specialist Daniel Farnham of Kentucky. Farnham finished second in 20.45. Daniel is the brother of Vol sophomore Adam Farnham.
The sophomores were not done for the Vols with Michael Wolfe winning the 200 I.M. in 1:52.92.
Boswell won the 200 back in 1:51.80. Freshman Stan Czarnecki followed in third in 1:55.12.
Showe swept the diving events with wins on both the 1 and 3-meter boards. He won the 1-meter springboard with 292.58 points and the 3-meter with 355.72 points.
The Vols return to action Friday at 3 p.m. against SEC rival South Carolina in
