LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Tennessee men's swimming and diving team started its dual-meet season as they defeated the Kentucky Wildcats Friday in Lexington. The Vols improved to 36-3 against the Wildcats.

"We expected some tough swims," head coach John Trembley said. "This early it is hard to come out sharp. We had some good swims, but it was an ugly win."

Tennessee took nine of the 13 events to swim past Kentucky, while sweeping five of them. Jevon Tarantino and Raymond Rosal led the way for the Vols. Tarantino won both the one-meter (293.10) and three-meter (314.25) springboard events while Rosal took home top honors in the 50 freestyle with a time of 20.74.

Other Vol winners included, Brad Boswell (1000 free), Casey Dauw (200 I.M.), Tyler Gustafson (100 free) and Jason Thomas (500 free).

"We now have to get back to work and stay focused on the long term goals," Trembley said. "We will continue to use the dual-meet season as preparation for the championship season."

Next up for the Volunteers is a showdown with Indiana Saturday, Nov. 1 at the UT Student Aquatic Center.
