Minneapolis, Minn. -- Sophomore Phillip Jones dove to a second place finish at the Minnesota Diving Invitational in Minneapolis, Minn.
"It was a very exciting contest," head diving coach Dave Parrington said. "It came down to the last dive."
Jones scored 627.35 points, his lifetime best on the three-meter. Finishing in first place was Li Chengwei of the Tsinghua University with 630.15 points. In third place was Matt Bricker from Auburn and his teammate Caesar Garcia took fourth place.
In the three-meter preliminaries, Jones finished first with 598.20 points. Jake Dorsey dove to a tenth place finish with 474.60 points while freshman John Venditti tallied up 473.25 points, placing 11th.
The Minnesota Diving Invitational continues Saturday with the one-meter springboard competition.
