Las Vegas, Nev. -- The 11th-ranked Tennessee men's swimming and diving team continued with its tough winter training regimen Sunday evening while competing in Las Vegas at the 19th annual UNLV Winter Invitational at the Buchanan Natatorium.

Senior Phillip Jones led the way for the Vols with a win on the 3-meter board. Freshman Ryan Rincon finished second while earning a NCAA qualifying standard.

"I'm obviously pleased with Phillip's showing," UT diving coach Dave Parrington said. "I am very excited with Ryan's performance which earned him a NCAA qualifying standard. This takes a significant amount of pressure off of him."

Junior Tyler Gustafson had the best effort for the Vols in the pool with a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:40.21.

Sophomore Andrew Engle finished sixth in the 100-yard butterfly with teammate Travis Wright following in seventh in 50.56.

Brad Boswell led the Vols in the 100-yard backstroke with a sixth-place finish in the A-final in 51.99. Senior Josh Fulton finished ninth in 51.66 in the B-final followed by Engle in 10th in 51.99.

The meet concludes today with finals at 5:30 p.m. Pacific time.
