Tennessee's men's swimming and diving team will travel to Gainesville, Fla., Friday to compete against the 11th-ranked Florida Gators. Tennessee caps off its dual-meet schedule -- coming in with a 6-1 record (2-1 SEC) -- as Florida hopes to improve on its 4-5 record (3-2 SEC). The meet begins Friday night at 7 p.m. ET.
"Our last dual meet of the year will be against conference foe and traditional rival the University of Florida," UT head coach John Trembley said. "They have a very powerful team that is well-balanced in all events, although their sprints are a little weaker than they have been in the past."
Tennessee leads the all-time dual-meet series against Florida 19-14.
"I like the team's attitude and morale since we suffered our first loss on Senior Day against Georgia (Jan. 20), which has actually stepped up our preparation for the Florida dual meet, the SEC Championships, and the NCAA championships," Trembley said.
That preparation has paid off well for the Vols, as several athletes have already qualified for the NCAA championships.
"Since we have several team members qualified for NCAAs, we're looking past dual meets and, in some cases, the SEC Championships," Trembley said. "However, we travel to Gainesville with the expectation that our guys will race hard and that we will win our share of events."
