Tennessee diving coach Dave Parrington has announced the schedule for this summer's diving camps at Allan Jones Aquatic Center.
Parrington and volunteer assistant diving coach Brian Pritt are leading four residential camp sessions during the month of June.
The five-day camps feature two intensive training sessions per day with work both on and off the diving boards. Sessions include stretching and conditioning, learning specific techniques for somersaulting and twisting, and dry board belt work and trampoline drills.
The program is for ages 10 and up. The cost for the overnight camp is $575 per session. Day camp opportunities are also available.
A major plus for campers is the opportunity to train for a few days at Allan Jones Aquatic Center, which has been selected by USA Diving for a number of important events. Most recently the USA Diving Winter Senior Nationals were held at the facility in December 2011. Tennessee's home diving well has also been host to the 2008 Olympic Selection Camp and 2011 USA Junior and Age Group Nationals.
"We are very excited to host camps this summer," said Coleman Weibley, the director of operations for Tennessee's swimming and diving programs. "We have what we believe to be one of the greatest diving facilities in the country, and Dave Parrington and Brian Pritt build an elite staff to coach the campers during their stay in Knoxville."
