Tennessee divers Phillip Jones and Jevon Tarantino are slated to take part in the America's Cup Diving Championships this week in Minneapolis.

The pair is hoping to become Tennessee's first synchronized diving duo to make the Olympic Trials.

Jones and Tarantino are competing together in the three-meter synchronized event for only the second time this year. In January, the duo occupied first place with one dive to go before finishing third in the event at the USA Diving World Cup Trials in Charlotte, N.C.

"We are looking forward to the challenge to compete in Minneapolis for what is our preparation work for the Olympic Trials," UT diving coach Dave Parrington said.

The preliminaries in the synchronized event are set for Tuesday, with the finals being held Thursday. Tarantino will also be competing Friday on the three-meter board. Both divers are already qualified in the individual events on both the one- and three-meter boards.
