UT's Jones, Tarantino Advance to Three-Meter Diving Finals at U.S. Olympic Trials

ST. PETERS, Mo. - Phillip Jones and Jevon Tarantino represented the University of Tennessee well Tuesday as both divers made the three-meter final Friday night at the Olympic Trials in St. Peters, Mo., at the St. Peters Rec-Plex.

Jones, a junior, is currently in second with 665.31 points. Tennessee teammate Tarantino, a freshman, is in seventh with 588.39. Troy Dumais, competing for the Centralized Training Center team in Woodlands, Texas, is leading the field after the seminfinals with 678.03.

"I'm excited with Phillip's position going into the finals," UT diving coach Dave Parrington said. "I'm pleased with his performance, and he is very much in the hunt."

Both divers will be competing Friday at 8 p.m. EST for a chance on the U.S. Olympic Team.
