The U.S. Olympic Swimming Team has returned to the University of Tennessee's aquatic facilities to train for the 2012 Olympic Games later this month in London.
USA Swimming, the national governing body of swimming, will allow spectators to attend a portion of the team's training session Thursday morning, July 12, at the Allan JonesIntercollegiate Aquatic Center and the outdoor swimming venue across the street.
The practice on Thursday at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center will be open to the public from 8-9 a.m. with grandstand seating for approximately 1,200 people.
Practice at the nearby outdoor pool can be viewed from 8-10 a.m. behind the fenced-in area.
All other practices during the team's training in Knoxville will be closed.
The U.S. Olympic Swimming Team previously trained in Knoxville prior to the 1996 Games in Atlanta. This is the first time the Olympic Team has been able to use the four-year-old Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center.
Tennessee is one of the few schools in the country to have two full-sized indoor pools between Allan Jones and the team's former competition venue next door, the Student Aquatic Center. The outdoor pool behind the Student Aquatic Center is also Olympic sized.

Doors Open: The main entrance on the north side of the Allan Jones Aquatic Center alongAndy Holt Avenue will open for spectators at 8 a.m. Fans will not be permitted on the pool deck.
Parking: Free parking will be available in the G7 parking garage, which is located across from the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center at the corner ofVolunteer Boulevard and Andy Holt Avenue.
Photography Information: Fans are allowed to bring battery-powered cameras, but no flash photography or tripods will be permitted. Anyone using flash will be subject to removal from the facility.
Additional Notes: Seating will be available on a first come, first served basis. The Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center has a limited capacity of approximately 1,200 ... Chairs are not permitted inside the facility ... The outdoor swimming pool is part of the TRECS sports complex and is behind the Student Aquatic Center on Andy Holt Avenue ... Spectators are reminded to be respectful of the athletes while they are training for the Olympics.
