2004--
Was ranked No. 37 in the ITA fall preseason singles rankings and No. 19, along
with partner Wade Orr, in the national doubles rankings ... Began the collegiate
season by going 3-1 in singles play at the Air Force Academy Fall Invitational
Sept. 12-14 ... Suffered a fractured right tibia on Sept. 20, when he was struck
by a vehicle as he was walking near campus ... Returned from injury to play
No. 3 doubles (with Orr) Jan. 31 vs. Virginia ... Made his return to the Vols'
singles lineup Feb. 20 vs. No. 6-ranked Duke, posting a straight-set win over
Christopher Bao Brown at the No. 6 position ... Defeated Matic Omerzel in straight
sets at the No. 3 position to clinch the Vols win over Georgia ... Posted a
15-5 overall doubles record with Orr ... Finished the season with an overall
singles record of 13-7 (7-4 SEC).
2003-- Dietrich earned All-SEC second-team recognition and was the only
Vol netter to garner SEC Player of the Week honors in 2003, earning that title
for the period ending March 9 ... Selected as the eighth alternate for the NCAA
Division I Men's Singles Championships ... Opened the 2002-03 season as the
team's highest-ranked singles player in the Omni Hotels/ITA Collegiate Tennis
Rankings at No. 48 ... Led the Vols with 17 doubles wins and finished second
on the team with 18 singles wins ... Nabbed a team-high three clinching points
... Made a semifinal appearance in the "A" flight at the adidas Invitational
in Peachtree City, Ga. ... Reached the singles quarterfinals of the Omni Hotels
Region III Indoor Championships in Lexington, Ky., where he was defeated by
the tournament's No. 1 seed ... His three-set victory over No. 73-ranked Stephen
Mitchell clinched Tennessee's upset win over No. 14-ranked Alabama March 7 ...
Notched a highlight singles win over No. 21-ranked Catalin Gard of Ole Miss
March 30 ... Earned an ITA fall regional singles ranking of No. 13 ... Debuted
at No. 56 in the ITA's spring preseason national singles rankings.
2002-- Mark enjoyed a stellar opening season for the Vols, finishing second on the team in singles wins with 31, and capturing an SEC Indoor doubles title with partner Peter Handoyo ... Spent most of his time at the No. 4 singles spot, where he amassed a 9-5 record (7-7 record in SEC play) ... Tied for the team lead in clinching points in 2002 with six, while also notching an impressive 5-4 record against ranked foes ... Began the year with a great fall season, in which he posted a 15-6 record, earning a No. 67 ITA national ranking going into the spring season ... Had several impressive showings in the fall tournament season, including a quarterfinal appearance at the Region III Championships and semifinal appearances at the Georgia Tech Invitational, the adidas Invitational and the Southern Intercollegiate championships ... Also posted an impressive 26-13 overall doubles record, while spending most of his time at the No. 3 spot with partner Andy Crews ... The pair notched a 9-4 record, while capturing important clinching points against Georgia and Auburn in the semifinals and finals, respectively, of the Vols' NCAA tournament run to the final four.
2001-- Redshirted: Mark was redshirted in 2001, but with his huge serve, he hopes to break into the lineup in the 2002 season
