Became the third Vol to reach the finals of the NCAA Singles Championships, falling to top-ranked Steve Johnson of Southern California 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 ... Defeated teammate Tennys Sandgren in the NCAA semifinal ... Continued his unbeaten streak in NCAA team matches, improving to 8-0 ... Finished season tied once again for the team lead in wins with John-Patrick Smith with 42 ... Earned first-team All-SEC honors for the second year in a row and picked up SEC Player of the Week accolades for the first time ... Played doubles with Sandgren, and the two finished 20-4 this spring ... Ended the fall season the best way possible: winning the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championship in Flushing, N.Y. ... 2009-10 (Freshman)
Put together one of the most productive freshman seasons in UT history, going 41-7 in singles and 36-6 in doubles ... Earned ITA All-America status by reaching the round of 16 in singles at the NCAA Championships and ended the year ranked No. 30 ... His 41 victories was second-most by a freshman in program history. His winning percentage of .854 was the best ever by a freshman and fourth best by any Vol ... Won three matches at No. 3 singles during the Vols' run to the NCAA title match and was named to the NCAA Championships All-Tournament Team ... Enjoyed a team-best 17-match winning streak in singles during the spring season ... Teamed up with Boris Conkic to go 34-4, including a 25-1 record in dual matches playing primarily at the No. 2 position. The 34 victories were the fourth-most in a season in UT history ... Was named SEC Freshman of the Year alongside Vanderbilt's Ryan Lipman and was also First Team All-SEC after going 10-1 at No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles ... Mother, Michelle DePalmer Williams, was a professional tennis player ... Father, Bob, played collegiate tennis at Duke ... Also nephew of Mike DePalmer Jr., a tennis All-America for the Vols in 1981 and 1982.
