Reese Rolls into Wake Semifinals

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Sophomore Hunter Reese made good on his top seeding at the Wake Forest Spring Invitational, winning two more matches Saturday to reach the semifinals.

Reese, ranked 40th nationally, beat Wake Forest's Anthony Delcore 7-5, 6-3 in the second round. He followed that with a 6-1, 3-6, 6-1 quarterfinal victory over another Wake Forest player, Adam Lee, 6-1, 3-6, 6-1.

With the wins, Reese improved to 13-3 this season. He faces his third Demon Deacon of the tournament, Morgan Mays, on Sunday.

Senior Taylor Patrick was the Vols' only other winner on the day, ousting fourth-seeded David Hopkins of Wake Forest 6-4, 7-5 before losing in the quarterfinals 6-1, 6-4 to Mays.

Freshman Sebastian Yllera lost 6-1, 4-6, 6-3 to Wake Forest Jon Ho in his first match of the day.

In doubles, Reese and Yllera lost 8-4 to Mays and Delcore. All the Vols who lost are set to play consolation Sunday as Reese continues in the main draw.
