Dietrich Falls in Quarterfinals at SEC Coaches Indoor Championships

Jan. 16, 2005

Tennessee men's tennis player Mark Dietrich lost his match Sunday to Florida's Greg Oullette in the quarterfinals of the SEC Coaches Indoor Championships.

"Mark took awhile to get into the match" men's tennis acting head coach Chris Mahony said. "He had a few opportunities in the second set but he wasn't able to take advantage of them"

Dietrich played Oullette strong in the second set but ultimately fell to the No. 47 ranked player 6-2, 7-6(5). Dietrich is now 3-1 in the spring season after not playing at all in the fall semester.

In singles consolation action sophomore Ben Rogers and freshman Bobby Cameron both lost. Rogers lost to Kentucky's Nolan Polley 7-6(4), 6-2 and Cameron lost to Georgia's Matic Omerzel 6-4, 7-5.

The tennis Vols will be in action next at home against The Citadel at 1 p.m. in the Goodfriend Indoor Tennis Center.

"We've got a lot of work to do, individually we have to learn our lessons," Mahony said. "It was a great measuring stick for us as a team and now we have to get back to work in the next six weeks before the SEC schedule starts."
