Tennessee men's tennis players Kaden Hensel and Derek Stephens fell Sunday on the final day of action at the SEC Coaches' Indoor Championships held at the Rivercenter Racquet and Health Club in New Orleans.
"This was a good tournament for the guys to see where they stand in the SEC," head men's tennis coach Sam Winterbotham said. "Although the results didn't go our way today, we feel if we continue to improve we will be in good shape when it comes to the SEC season."
Hensel lost to Georgia's Travis Helgeson 6-2,6-1 in the semifinals of the "A" draw. Helgeson, ranked 22nd in singles, was the third consecutive ranked player Hensel faced.
Stephens fell to Helgeson's teammate at Georgia Ricardo Gonzalez 6-3,6-4 in the finals of the "B" draw.
The Vols begin dual match play Friday when UT hosts a doubleheader against Memphis and UT-Chattanooga. All tennis matches at the Goodfriend Indoor Tennis Center are free to the public.
