The Tennessee men's tennis team dropped its SEC opener to LSU Friday, 4-3, at the W.T. "Dub" Robinson Stadium in Baton Rouge.
The Vols (5-2, 0-1 SEC) started off by capturing the doubles point for the sixth time this season. Adam Hubble and Ben Rogers defeated 18th-ranked Mark Growcutt and Ken Skupski 8-6 at the No.1 position. Sophomores Bobby Cameron and Kaden Hensel sealed the point for Tennessee with an 8-6 victory over James Cluskey and Paul White at the No. 2 slot.
LSU (8-4, 1-0 SEC) got off to a fast start in singles play to capture the lead. Skupski, ranked 20th in the individual rankings, defeated Cameron 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 1 position. Growcutt gave LSU a 2-1 lead when he defeated UT senior David Baxendine 6-3, 6-4.
