Rain took its toll at the annual Southern Intercollegiate Championships for the second day in Athens, Ga. Saturday's Division I singles tournament was postponed and scheduled to resume Sunday morning.
Some matches were moved inside to Georgia's Lindsey Hopkins Indoor Facility, as was also the case Friday. Most of the Division II singles and doubles were played, and freshman Edward Jones defeated Duke's Jared Pinsky 6-4, 5-7 (4) to advance to the round of 32.
Redshirt freshman Taylor Patrick played a match in the Division II bracket as well, losing 6-4, 6-4 to Alex Zotov of Vanderbilt.
The Division I and II doubles tournament and the Division III singles bracket were canceled because of the weather.
Hoosier Invitational Update: Redshirt freshman Max Stevens and sophomore Bryan Swartz wrapped up their second day in Bloomington, Ill.
Stevens, competing in the first bracket, lost his second-round match 7-6 (10-8), 7-5 to Bobby Deye of Xavier. He later dropped his consolation match against Jeremy Langer of host Indiana 7-6, 6-4.
In the second flight, Swartz fell in the second round 6-4, 6-1 to Western Michigan's Pablo Olivarez. Swartz rebounded in the afternoon to defeat J.T. Torbeck of Xavier in three sets 7-5, 6-7 (7-9), 6-2.
Stevens and Swartz lost in the doubles semifinals in a close match to Western Michigan's Michael Calderone and Kazuya Komada 9-8 (5).
