Chaplin's Run Ends in Consol. Quarters

NASHVILLE,  Tenn. -- Tennessee senior Jarryd Chaplin run in the SEC Fall Classic ended in the consolation quarterfinals Saturday on Vanderbilt's courts.

Chaplin won his opening match of the day easily, beating Arkansas' Jacob Herndon 6-3, 6-2 in the morning's fourth round. He lost his afternoon match to Maxx Lipman of Florida 6-4, 7-5.

While the six Vols are official out of tournament draw play, they are set to play additional sanctioned consolation matches Sunday.

Junior Hunter Reese scored the biggest win of the day in additional consolation. He earned his first ranked win of the year, beating No. 39 Stephane Piro of Florida 6-4, 6-3.

Freshman Sunay Bhat also won his match, beating Texas A&M's Max Montague 6-4, 6-3.

Junior Brandon Fickey and freshmen Sean Karl and Markus Kerner all lost matches. Fickey lost to a second top-100 opponent in as many days, falling to No. 52 Florent Diep 6-4, 7-6.
