Sept. 27, 2013

TULSA, Okla. -- Freshmen Sean Karl and Markus Kerner are leading off Tennessee's stay at the ITA All-American Championships on Saturday with the start of pre-qualifying singles competition.

Karl is set to take on Wisconsin's Tomas Pitra in the morning's opening round while Kerner plays Joakim Norstrom of Saint Mary's College of California.

Two rounds are played Saturday. If they advance to Sunday's play, they could take the court for two more matches.

Karl and Kerner must win four matches in pre-qualifying to move into the qualifying tournament. From there, three wins are required to gain access to the 64-player singles draw.

Juniors Mikelis Libietis and Hunter Reese are both in the main draw, with Libietis the No. 1 seed in both competitions. Junior Brandon Fickey and senior Jarryd Chaplin are in qualifying.
