TULSA, Okla. -- Freshmen Markus Kerner and Sean Karl advanced to Sunday's second round of pre-qualifying singles at the ITA All-American Championships.
Kerner defeated Joakim Norstrom of Saint Mary's College of California 7-6 (3), 6-4 in his opening-round match, good for his fourth win of the fall.
Karl had an easier time advancing. His opponent, Tomas Pitra of Wisconsin, withdrew for the tournament, so Karl received a bye into the second round.
Two rounds were originally scheduled for Saturday, but rain disrupted play and moved matches indoors. Two round are set for Sunday and another match on Monday.
Bhat lost in consolation to Tennessee Tech's Alberto Esteban 6-4, 6-2. He and Norton also lost their consolation doubles match.
